Pastor
Elliot R. Shelton and Jeaneen |
For,
'Everyone who calls on the name of the
Lord shall be saved.' But how are they to call on one in whom they
have not believed? And how are they to believe in one
of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear
without someone to proclaim him? And how are they to
proclaim him unless they are sent? As it is written, "How
beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"
Pastor Elliot R. Shelton Sr. is a native of Memphis,
TN. At an early age, Pastor Shelton developed a passion
for the ministry of teaching God’s Word. His
tireless pursuit of academic and spiritual knowledge
was matched with his gift of cultivating others to
discovering their true identity and accessing their
authority in Jesus Christ. After a short stint at the
University of Memphis, majoring in Engineering, he
changed his educational focus to religion. Starting
on a new path of becoming a Sunday school teacher,
God placed a call on his life to be “a Shepherd
over his flock”. He accepted this call and
vowed an eternal dedication of service, with high degrees
of integrity, charity and humility. In January of 1994,
he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious
Studies at American Baptist College in Nashville, TN.
While under the tutelage of his father and Pastor,
Rev. Elmer Shelton, Jr. at St. Shephens MBC, he served
as assistant to the Pastor and continued in his ministry
teaching Wednesday night bible study at Promise Land
Church and an array of revivals and youth conferences.
He was noted “one of the young ministers to watch.”
For two years he served as Pastor of New Hope MBC
in Helena, AR and in April of 2000, the Holy Spirit
reunited Pastor Shelton with his first (church) love “The
Land”. With his God-given vision the
church has been blessed, through Christ, to move into
a new location,
to add new disciples and a variety of new ministries
designed to meet the specific needs of each individual;
thus, moving Christians from complacency to commitment.
Pastor Shelton is married to Jeaneen and they have
two sons, Elliot Jr. and Julian.
